AI conversations & writing

Capture a passing idea

Save short thoughts, separate assumptions from facts, and choose a next step.

Capture first, organize second

Use an editable note or an AI conversation as your scratchpad. A passing idea does not need to sound like a finished document. Record one thought at a time, and keep facts separate from things you still need to verify.

Save a short idea

  1. Open a note and place the cursor where you want the text.
  2. Press Fn, name the idea, and say why it might matter. Press Fn again to finish.
  3. Add a second short recording for uncertainties or a possible next action. Fn dictation supports up to 5 minutes; shorter sections are easier to review.
  4. Review the text and add a heading so you can find it later in your notes.

Something to say

Idea for the onboarding email: give new users one small task instead of listing every feature. We do not yet know whether this improves activation. Next step: show two versions to five testers and ask what they would do first.

Expected result: a readable note containing the idea, an explicit uncertainty, and an action. Whisper One inserts transcription; it does not automatically create a task in another system.

If you want AI to organize it

Dictate the raw thought into Claude or ChatGPT, then add: “Organize this into idea, evidence, assumptions, and one next action. Do not treat assumptions as facts.” Submit and review the result. Check that the AI did not add research or outcomes you never supplied.

History can help recover a saved transcription, but use your notes app for a durable project structure. Local history is separated by account on this Mac and is not a promise of cloud synchronization across devices.
